ITALY’S UYN UNVEILS UYN RUNNING, FIRST RUNNING SHOES ENGINEERED FROM SOCKS FOR ROAD, TRAIL AND CROSS TRAIL AT THE RUNNING EVENT NOVEMBER 28-30 AUSTIN, TEXAS

MARBLEHEAD, Mass., (November 7, 2023) – Italy’s Unleash Your Nature (UYN, pronounced “win”) a Trerè Innovation company, will debut UYN® Running, the first running shoe engineered from socks, for road, trail and cross trail for men and women at the Running Event in Austin, Texas November 28-30 2023. The proprietary design features reflect two years of intensive research and collaboration with Trerè Innovation’s state of the art research and design facility AREAS (Academy for Research and Engineering in Apparel and Sports) and the Cerism Center of the University of Verona, examining running in outdoor environments and the study of neuro-muscular reactions. Specifically, the line includes three styles: the Synapsis for road running, ($179.00); the Neuron for Trail Running ($179.00); and the 6Sense for Cross Trail ($199.00). UYN Running will be available at select specialty stores and online starting spring 2024 at uynsports.com/en_us. Attendees of The Running Event can also visit the UYN booth #1342 during the show exhibit hours, 9:30 am – 6:30 pm on November 29 and 30th.

UYN’s footwear engineers are using the next generation treadmill called the Reaxing platform treadmill pioneered by the Italian company Reaxing. Unlike traditional treadmills, the Reaxing platform inclines in all directions in a sudden motion, replicating the unpredictable transitions of outdoor running. Specifically created for neuro-reactive training, this treadmill enabled UYN to study the true conditions of the outdoors in a controlled environment. Neuro-reactive training focuses on the appropriate body positioning and posture to promote proper dynamic muscular stabilization during running.

“Bringing our new running styles to The Running Event opens a new chapter for UYN,” said UYN CEO Marco Redini. “UYN Running represents the future of running footwear clearly differentiating us from what presently exists in today’s marketplace. Thanks to this new study methodology, we created the first neuro-reactive running shoe using a distinct structure guaranteeing superior stability and optimal movement control, especially in unforeseeable conditions while running outdoors.”

UYN Running’s zero-seam structure wraps around the foot and stabilizes it while respecting the natural shape. This design prevents abrasion and hot spots and provides best in class flexibility, stability and breathability.

The technologies include:

  • Select uppers made with Flexicorn bio-fiber, a sustainable alternative to elastane, derived from corn seeds for extraordinary elasticity, resilience, quick drying and UV-resistance
  • Merino Wool for a soft feel on the skin and temperature regulation for all seasons, cooling when the foot is hot, warming the foot when its cold
  • The Heel Active Ligament Outerframe (H.A.L.O) providing support for the sudden changes in direction, while stabilizing the heel and steering the foot into a neutral path from the very first roll-off movement
  • Connected with the H.A.L.O. is the Power Chassis, a rigid platform built into the midsole, making the shoe more rigid and providing superior energy return for a smoother run
  • The Freebound® heel design cushions and stores the forces generated around the heel
  • The ultra-lightweight UYN Propulsyon foam uses proprietary technologies giving the runner the best possible energy return, releasing impact pressure into the next stride

The UYN Synapsis for Road Running

This shoe is designed for long runs on the road from training to racing. It has exceptional ventilation, stability and support and features Flexicorn. Wavy-shaped ribs in the tread design distribute impact forces laterally and give just the right traction for road surfaces.

The UYN Neuron For Trailing Running

Precise, stable and responsive, the UYN Neuron shoe is engineered for speed and comfort in trail running. The hexagonal lugs ensure high traction on all surfaces. The low-rigidity Power Chassis offers greater protection on uneven ground for stones, rocks and roots. The Flexicorn bio-fiber upper is elastic, quick-drying, and resilient.

The UYN 6Sense for Cross Trail

Intended for mountain running on the most demanding trails in the most challenging conditions, this shoe delivers optimal stability, enhanced motion control and rapid adaptation to uneven terrain. The sock-derived upper in merino wool guarantees a precise and wraparound fit, at the same time being abrasion-resistant and waterproof thanks to UYN’s Membrain 115 built directly into the knit, preventing water from passing through while remaining highly flexible and breathable.

In addition to UYN Running, UYN is expanding its Urban Trail collection designed for urban adventures and trail explorations adding the Aethon ($199.00), Arion ($169.00), and Artax ($169.00). The Urban Trail Naked, for light trekking and everyday life, will have expanded colors in all white and all black.

The High Fives Foundation Hosts Adaptive Bike Camps Across the Nation

Truckee, CA — November 6th, 2023 — High Fives Foundation just wrapped up another successful mountain biking season. Hosting more than 40 adaptive bike camps, immersing athletes with life-changing injuries in nature and riding over 55 trails at four different bike camps across America.

These adaptive bike camps provide the equipment, guidance, and community that make it possible for athletes to get on the trail.

“The amount of freedom I felt being able to rip on a bike again is truly indescribable. I no longer felt any limitations of my disability.” – Nick Harris, High Fives athlete #406

For others, mountain biking is a steppingstone for reintroduction into outdoor recreation of all kinds.

“Once I learned to ride a bike again—which occurred a little after a year [after my injury]—my confidence and strength monumentally improved. I stopped mentally exhausting myself preparing for physical activities, and instead, they became second nature, and I was able to expand from the most basic of functions, into more advanced maneuvers.” – High Fives athlete

Mountain biking is one of the five pillars of sport that High Fives focuses on, and the recent growth within this space is noteworthy. High Fives is expanding accessibility in mountain biking in the Reno-Tahoe area and beyond. This is achieved through partnerships and consulting projects with organizations such as the Truckee Trails Foundation, Biggest Little Trail Stewardship, Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation, and the City of Reno Access Advisory Committee, among others. They are answering the call of so many of the individuals they serve.

“The best part of the High Fives adaptive bike camps is seeing how many different types of bikes, riding styles, and trail preferences exist. It does not matter your age, ability, or skill, fun can be had on a mountain bike trail. I love getting to witness athletes practice skills all summer long. By the end of the season, the progression is incredibly impressive.” – Dani Trujillo, Director of Programs

Be sure to check out High Fives’ Events calendar to stay in the know about upcoming community events. You can also check out their blog, to read event recaps and stay informed about forthcoming experiences.

Leading outdoor brands come together to support The Conservation Alliance #WeKeepItWild campaign

(November 2, 2023) – Seven outdoor brands–including backpacks, apparel, footwear, and more categories–are joining forces to support The Conservation Alliance (TCA) by donating 5% of all online sales from November 2-8 as part of the #WeKeepItWild campaign. The semi-annual campaign includes Backpacker’s Pantry, Gregory Mountain Packs, Royal Robbins, Nomadix, La Sportiva, Oboz Footwear, and Superfeet.

During the campaign, consumers can shop for their favorite outdoor brands while supporting TCA’s mission to fund and advocate for the protection of North America’s wild places. This fall marks the fourth year of the campaign, which has raised nearly $400,000 for TCA. Member support on projects like this helps make a tangible impact on the organization’s work to ‘keep it wild.’ Just this year, TCA has played a key role in 16 conservation projects, protecting more than 11.7 million acres across North America.

“#WeKeepItWild brings together like-minded brands to drive meaningful impact during the holiday season,” says Conor McElyea, Senior Director of Membership and Partnerships at The Conservation Alliance. “Our members are where we’re able to make the greatest impact. Their membership dues and partnerships help TCA fund grants that go directly to organizations on the ground advocating for the protection of our public lands and waters. We are incredibly grateful to the brands participating in #WeKeepItWild and hope shoppers consider shopping with them this holiday season.”

Participating brands believe in giving back to the outdoor community and protecting the wild places we love most. The campaign is an opportunity for these brands to come together for a shared cause and give back during the holiday season. The funds raised from this season’s campaign will go directory to protecting wild lands and waters across North America.

Join the #WeKeepItWild campaign by supporting these brands during the week of November 2-8, 2023. For more information about The Conservation Alliance, please visit conservationalliance.com.

The Visit Oceanside Adaptive Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour (AASP) Continues to Make Waves in the Sport with Unprecedented Growth and Prize Money

Truckee, CA — November 2nd, 2023- The Association of Adaptive Surfing Professionals (AASP), sponsored by Visit Oceanside, has just concluded another successful season, marking a significant milestone in the world of adaptive surfing. With 96 athletes from 17 countries participating in various events around the globe, AASP has firmly established itself as a leader in promoting inclusivity, athleticism, and excellence within the adaptive surfing community.

The 2023 season was nothing short of remarkable, as AASP’s commitment to the sport was exemplified through the generous distribution of over $134,000 in prize money. This remarkable contribution not only highlights AASP’s dedication to promoting adaptive surfing but also emphasizes their unwavering support for the athletes who continue to inspire and amaze us with their resilience and determination.

One of the standout events of the season was the U.S. Open Adaptive Surfing Championship (ASC) powered by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, which witnessed extraordinary growth since its inception. Charles “Chaka” Webb, a respected figure in the adaptive surfing community, expressed his enthusiasm for the sport’s rapid expansion.  He stated, “I’m overwhelmed by the enormous growth from the first year of the U.S. Open ASC at 45 athletes to this year, almost 100 athletes, and the prize money growth from the first year $13,000 to now $32,000. To watch the new faces of our sport that are young water men and women charging in very challenging conditions and surfing some of the world’s elite waves at such a high level. I am blessed to be part of such an amazing community of elite professional athletes.”

AASP’s dedication to growth doesn’t stop here. Looking ahead to 2024, they are excited to announce the addition of Byron Bay to their event roster. This expansion signifies AASP’s commitment to raising the stakes for the platform and the athletes they support. As the sport continues to evolve, AASP is poised to lead the way in shaping the future of adaptive surfing.

Throughout the season, AASP demonstrated their passion for the sport, their athletes, and their global community. The Hawaii ASC, Costa Rica Open Pro of Adaptive Surfing, and the U.S. Open ASC provided an extraordinary platform for adaptive surfers to showcase their talents and inspire others.

AASP remains dedicated to creating an inclusive and empowering environment for adaptive surfers worldwide. Their commitment to nurturing the growth of the sport, increasing prize money, and expanding their event locations sets the stage for an exciting and promising future for adaptive surfing.
