Norrøna Reveals New ‘Tailored for Her’ Collection, Rigorously Tested by the Brand’s U.S Women Ambassadors

OSLO, Norway (Aug. 8, 2023) — Norrøna, the family-owned Norwegian manufacturer of premium apparel and gear, is proud to present its new ‘Tailored for Her’ women’s specific ski and mountaineering specific products, which will be available for Fall of 2023. The brand also shared updates on its U.S. women’s ambassador team, an inspiring group of mountain athletes including: Skier and mountain biker Delilah Cupp, trail runner and surfer Robin Vieira, trail runner and backcountry skier Hilary McCloy, and skier and mountaineer Darcy Conover.

“We always work closely with our versatile team of ambassadors, testers, and adventurers when developing our products,” said CEO and fourth-generation owner, Jørgen Jørgensen. “Many of the popular styles our fans have grown to love are the direct results of the close cooperation and long processes of testing our ambassador team undertakes to ensure we equip them with functional, high-quality products. The new Tailored for Her collection passed our female ambassadors rigorous testing process, and we’re excited to introduce the collection to women around the world.”

Tailored for Her collection:

The protective pants are made for ski touring and work perfectly for all activities in which larger sized boots are needed, including mountaineering, climbing and trekking. Key features include: an elasticated waist, two zippered front products perfect for car keys, spacious and open thigh pockets that stretch for beanies and extra layers, mesh ventilation on the back of the thighs, articulated knees, an elasticated adjustable snow gaiter and reinforced fabric around the ankles for additional snow protection.

Developed for ski touring, the windproof and stretchy material offers next-to-skin comfort and movability of tights, with the functionality of ski pants. Key features include: high, comfortable waist with a lace for tightening, big stretch pockets on the thighs, an adjustable bottom leg with a gusset to accommodate walk mode and ski mode and integrated stretch snow gaiters.

Norrøna’s first insulated skirt is designed to provide breathable warmth while hiking in the mountains, and also works well as an insulating layer for ski touring. Made with a recycled nylon face fabric for lightweight durability, the front and back sides of the skirt have been insulated with polyester for warmth and breathability. The entire circumference of the skirt has been insulated, with the front half of the skirt featuring a lighter fabric to prevent unnecessary bulk.

The brand is proud to share updates from its roster of U.S. women ambassadors and their recent accomplishments:

Darcy Conover: “I ran in the Emerald Mountain Epic Trail Marathon and raced a personal best time placing 14th! This summer I hope to complete hiking the 100 highest peaks in Colorado. In the meantime, I will also be working on summiting the Bi-Centennial Peaks (200 highest peaks in Colorado). I have 30 more to go to complete! When not in the mountains or on the trail, I am teaching my 7-year-old daughter to ski.”

Delilah Cupp: “My ski season was cut short by heartbreakingly tearing my other ACL in March (15 months after my first ACL tear). In between the two injuries, I managed to create my first self-produced video series, [DEL]ETED SCENES. Although I was initially totally devastated following both injuries, I quickly pivoted to make the best of my situation and learned to love gravel biking, hiking, and finding alternative modes to navigate the mountains while I work my way back up to skiing and mountain biking. I created a vlog series documenting my first ACL recovery process and have lent support and advice to a surprisingly large cohort of fellow ACL rehabbers.”

Robin Vieira: “The ability to work for myself and create what I want with intention is such a gift. The grinds of starting a business are real, and sometimes mean less time on the bike or skis or surfing or running. But hard work pays off, no matter what you dedicate your efforts to. Up next, I’m revamping my other business, Mindfully, Robin Coaching & Mentoring. I’ve been coaching women for the past 2 years for cycling and running by creating custom plans for their everyday lives that excel them toward their personal fitness, wellness and activity goals.”

Hilary McCloy: “I run a performance physical therapy business that specializes in working with runners, skiers, mtn bikers and anyone who enjoys spending time moving their body and being outdoors. I have been open for two and a half years and have recently moved into a beautiful space that’s a small gym and treatment area. I’m really proud to combine my own personal life passions with work. Also, I recently participated in Last Woman Standing at Last Skier Standing, skiing for 36 hours, 108 miles and 44,000 feet of elevation gain and putting my norrøna ski kit to good use.”

The Conservation Alliance and 50 Member Companies Applaud President Biden for Designating the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument

(August 8, 2023) – Today, President Biden protected nearly 1 million acres of federal public lands in Arizona by designating The Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. The Grand Canyon is an iconic landscape and outdoor recreation destination. In 2021, 4.5 million visitors from around the world visited Grand Canyon National Park, participating in outdoor recreation activities and supporting businesses in nearby communities. Twelve tribes and several local grassroots conservation groups have been advocating for the designation of this monument to protect their sacred homelands from future harmful development.

“This designation represents decades of advocacy efforts led by the Grand Canyon Tribal Coalition to protect the Grand Canyon region for future generations. Permanently protecting about 1 million acres of public lands will honor the original stewards of the land, conserve a critical area for water resources, and continue to support a landscape that is a key driver of the region’s thriving outdoor economy. On behalf of The Conservation Alliance and its coalition of 270 businesses, we thank President Joe Biden, Representative Raúl Grijalva, and Senator Krysten Sinema for their efforts to protect public lands. We look forward to continuing to work alongside partners on the ground and the Biden Administration to designate more monuments nationwide,” said Shoren Brown, Vice President of Public Affairs of The Conservation Alliance.

Permanent public land protection such as National Monument designation directly benefits our economy, sustaining and creating jobs, and generating revenue. Outdoor recreation accounted for 1.8 percent of the U.S. GDP in 2021, accounting for $689B in gross output and supporting 4.3M jobs. In Arizona, the outdoor recreation economy created $5 billion in wages and salaries and supported 100,000  jobs in 2021.

“REI Co-op celebrates the tireless advocacy of the Grand Canyon Tribal Coalition and others who have worked to protect their ancestral homelands for the benefit of all and applauds the Biden Administration’s actions to protect this culturally significant recreation destination. The Grand Canyon is beloved by our 23-million-member community for hiking, camping, kayaking, and exploring through so many other recreation opportunities. This new designation ensures that its unique cultural connections, precious habitats and water resources are available for future generations,” said Ben Steele, Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer, REI Co-op.

“This designation marks a positive stride towards recognizing the importance of tending to our public lands and the well being of the Native communities intertwined with them. We extend our wholehearted congratulations to the Tribes and their advocates for their dedicated efforts in pursuit of these goals. This collective endeavor ensures that the invaluable landscape remains a legacy for the forthcoming generations. Let us now channel our energies into collaborative stewardship, which is essential for effectively overseeing our public lands, ultimately benefiting everyone involved. Thank you, President Joe Biden, Secretaries Haaland and Vilsack, Representative Grijalva, Senators Sinema and Kelly, and Representatives Gallego and Stanton for their leadership and actions. Thanks as well to our local leaders and community supporters,” said Danny Giovale, owner/founder of Kahtoola.

“The Grand Canyon is an iconic landscape that is beloved by the outdoor recreation community for its exquisite outdoor experiences, and unquestionably deserves protection. The outdoor recreation community celebrates and stands behind the work of Tribes in protecting this special place, and we applaud President Biden for taking action to protect the wider Grand Canyon region through the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument today,” said Adam Cramer, CEO of Outdoor Alliance.

This new National Monument designation comes just two weeks after The Conservation Alliance and dozens of partners and companies launched Mobilizing for Monuments, a coalition of businesses calling on the Biden Administration to permanently protect millions of acres of public lands by establishing new National Monuments across the United States. The Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument is one of four monuments currently supported by this campaign. The other three include the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Expansion, the Dolores River Canyon Country National Monument, and the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument Expansion.

Since 2010, The Conservation Alliance and its member companies have contributed over $330,000 to The Grand Canyon Trust to protect the Colorado Plateau. Fifty TCA member companies have signed petitions and letters of support for the monument.

###

The Conservation Alliance (TCA) is an organization of like-minded businesses whose collective contributions support grassroots environmental organizations and their efforts to protect wild places where people and wildlife thrive. Alliance grant funding has played a key role in protecting rivers, wildlands, and climbing areas throughout North America. Since 1989, we have contributed over $30,000,000 in grants to conservation organizations whose collective efforts have helped protect 81 million acres of land and 3,587 miles of rivers; stop or remove 37 dams; acquire 21 climbing areas; and designate five marine reserves.

Kahtoola Celebrates the Designation of Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument

Flagstaff, Ariz. (August 8, 2023) – Today, President Joe Biden announced the designation of a Tribally led proposal to designate nearly 1 million acres of public lands surrounding Grand Canyon National Park as the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. This is really something worth celebrating. It marks a momentous time in history, and Kahtoola extends their deepest gratitude to the Grand Canyon Tribal Coalition for boldly leading this effort.

The monument designation is an acknowledgement of the deep cultural ties so many Tribes have to these lands and to the Grand Canyon. These protections recognize Tribal ancestral homelands and go a step farther by including Tribal leaders in the management of them. Through a co-managed approach, these federally owned public lands will be stewarded and preserved for generations to come, aided by the centuries old wisdom of the original inhabitants of these landscapes. Importantly, this designation will serve to protect precious water sources of the region by permanently taking new uranium mining claims off the table. In effect, all plants, animals, and people will benefit.

Kahtoola, based in Flagstaff, has been a growing employer in the area since 1999 and has been working to raise awareness of uranium mining around the Grand Canyon for years. Kahtoola is not only dedicated to making excellent outdoor gear, but to supporting Indigenous cultures and promoting environmental stewardship. The Colorado Plateau, especially the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas, have incredible opportunities for outdoor recreation for local residents and for millions of visitors from around the world every year. Now, with these protections in place, these opportunities will exist for generations to come.

“This designation marks a positive stride towards recognizing the importance of tending to our public lands and the well-being of the Native communities intertwined with them,” said Danny Giovale, founder and owner of Kahtoola. “We extend our wholehearted congratulations to the Tribes and their advocates for their dedicated efforts in pursuit of these goals. Thanks as well to our local leaders and community supporters.”
