Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) Announces Industry Lunches & Key Discussion Panels at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show
OIA, the title sponsor and education provider of Outdoor Retailer, offers engaging Industry Lunches & Panels with topics covering sustainable business practices, climate change strategy, equity in the workplace and how to tackle getting more kids and families outside.
BOULDER, Colo. (January 23, 2019)– Today Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the nonprofit trade association for the outdoor industry, announced the OIA Industry Lunches for Outdoor Retailer Snow Show, presented in partnership with Snowsports Industries of America (SIA). Come for a free lunch and in-depth discussion on topics ranging from climate change, outdoor recreation and conservation on public lands and energy development, building a sustainable business and how to support kids and families access the ongoing benefits of getting outside.
“The OIA Industry Lunches are free to all Outdoor Retailer Snow Show attendees and credentialed media – I encourage everyone to come learn about vital issues in the outdoor industry. For our industry to remain a force, we need to stay plugged into the issues and the community dedicated to solving them,” said Amy Roberts, OIA’s executive director. “I hope all Outdoor Retailer Snow Show attendees will come to our free education sessions to engage, discuss and connect with fellow outdoor industry colleagues.”

ADVANCING YOUR CLIMATE STRATEGY: EMERGING BEST PRACTICES FOR EMISSIONS REDUCTION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN

For organizations striving to be leaders on climate, the foundation of a solid climate strategy includes setting transparent goals and implementing an array of practical emissions reduction strategies. As manufacturers, the bulk of our emissions are deep in the supply chain where we have less leverage and challenges with measurement. How do we work together to address the impact of our materials, invest in emerging renewable energy markets in the areas we source from, and engage with our consumers? This session will look at emerging practices to assess and reduce scope 3 emissions, including industry collaboration around energy efficiency, renewable energy procurement and investment, land use strategies, and examples of how a few outdoor industry companies are working to better understand and reduce their own impact.
