Boulder, CO., October 31, 2019 – On Thursday, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee heard testimony on the SOAR and Recreation Not Red Tape Acts – two pieces of legislation that Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has long supported:
“It is no surprise that the Outdoor Industry Association supports actions to lower barriers so more Americans can get outside to exercise and recreate while having the added benefit of building the outdoor recreation economy – this is why OIA thanks the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for holding this vital hearing for the Simplifying Outdoor Access for Recreation (SOAR) and Recreation Not Red Tape (RNR) Acts,” said Patricia Rojas-Ungar, vice president of government affairs at Outdoor Industry Association. “These bills complement each other in efforts to streamline and improve processes for recreation permits, outdoor programs for veterans as well as identifying areas in need of protection and enhancing the use of volunteers for maintenance and stewardship – we urge the committee to take swift action and pass these bills as soon as possible.”
OIA has long supported SOAR and RNR and deeply thanks Senator Heinrich (D-NM) and Senator Wyden (D-OR) for their continued leadership on these bills.
