Therm-a-Rest transforms the sleeping bag market with new Boost 650 – launching spring 2025

Seattle, Wash. (July 15, 2024) – Therm-a-Rest, a pioneer in outdoor comfort and innovation for more than 50 years, redefines backpacking comfort and warmth in spring 2025 with its new sleeping bag, Boost 650™. The innovative new design provides unparalleled warmth, comfort, and versatility in the backcountry – for better sleep guaranteed.

After years of research and engineering, the Boost 650 addresses two of the biggest concerns backpackers have with their sleep systems – comfort and warmth. Addressing comfort, the semi-rectangular shape provides additional space for various natural sleeping positions without compromising thermal efficiency. Addressing warmth, Therm-a-Rest’s new WarmZip™ technology, a patent-pending center zipper, reduces the bag’s internal space and tucks insulation around the sleeper to warm the bag up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit – empowering users to control the temperature and their sleep experience.

“For more than 50 years, we’ve been the experts on sleep and thermal efficiency at camp,” said Justin McGregor, Product Line Manager at Therm-a-Rest. “The Boost 650 is a direct result of that. We’ve spent the last few years working to create a product that excites backpackers, and create the next generation of backpacking comfort – because backpacking shouldn’t mean compromised sleep. Boost 650 combines the industry’s most comfortable fit, first to market adjustable temperature, and all in a light-weight and packable-size. Reluctant backpackers shouldn’t be reluctant anymore!”

In addition to the WarmZip technology, the Boost 650 features multi-use armholes for ventilation or to read a book or play cards in the warmth of

your sleeping bag. The 650-fill, RDS-certified hydrophobic down is allocated to key areas with Zoned Insulation to maximize heat retention and weight. The hydrophobic down absorbs 90% less water and dries three times faster than untreated down.

The shell and lining are made with a GRS-certified 100% recycled nylon, and coated with a PFAS-free DWR. Inclusive sizing includes short, short wide, regular, regular wide, long, and long wide. The Boost 650 is available in 32 and 20 degrees and starts at one pound and nine ounces (32 degrees, size short).

MSR launches new all-in-one SwitchTM Stove System, leveraging Brand’s technical versatility to create its most comprehensive stove to date

Seattle, Wash. (July 11, 2024) – Today, Mountain Safety Research (MSR) announces the launch of the new SwitchTM Stove System for spring 2025, an all-in-one, versatile stove that allows you to sauté, simmer, cook or boil, and use it with your favorite pot or pan. This innovative new stove system is designed for price-conscious backpackers seeking MSR performance and reliability.

The innovative system lets you ‘switch’ to your own cookware with a quick flip of the deployable pot supporters, allowing for elevated versatility with varying pot sizes. It also features a Piezo Ignitor and a stove regulator, which provides reliable performance in the cold and at altitude for better functionality on more adventures.

Another unique feature of the SwitchTM Stove System is the patent-pending design of the pot, which is hemispherical. This design allows for an increased boil time without using a heat exchanger. The shape also delivers much less carbon monoxide than traditional heat exchangers. Additional pot features include internal graduation marks and a removable sustainable, natural cork cozy, a more sustainable choice than petroleum-based Neoprene, which requires significant energy to produce. The system also comes with a fuel canister stand and lid.

  • Weight: 4.1 oz (117 grams)
  • Packaged Weight: 13.8 oz (392 grams)
  • Price: $139.95 USD

“Our current stove systems, the Reactor and the WindBurner are not going anywhere, they are still going to be an ideal fit for a more technical user,” said John Park, Cascade Designs Product Line Manager. “This all-in-one stove is designed to be a catch-all for the casual backpacker, who wants a technical and versatile stove at an affordable price.”

Therm-a-Rest revolutionizes camp comfort for spring 2025 with the most comfortable backpacking pad EVER

Seattle, Wash. (July 11, 2024) – Therm-a-Rest, a pioneer in outdoor comfort innovation, introduces the most comfortable backpacking mattress EVER built in spring 2025, the NeoLoft. Thick, light, plush, and compact, you’ve never carried more comfort deep into the backcountry. At 4.6 inches thick and 25 ounces, backpackers no longer have to choose between a light pack and uncompromising comfort.

In addition to the new NeoLoft, Therm-a-Rest is expanding its camp comfort category with an updated Trail Pro and new Trail ProLight in the self-inflating category. Listening closely to the feedback and needs of its customers, Therm-a-Rest is prioritizing comfort and sustainability in spring 2025. A recent survey by the brand shows that 42% of backpackers prioritize comfort over warmth, weight, and packability when choosing a sleeping pad – values that Therm-a-Rest has amplified in its latest designs.

“For more than 50 years, Therm-a-Rest has been on a mission to create the most comfortable night sleep outside,” said Brandon Bowers, Product Line Manager at Therm-a-Rest. “NeoLoft smashed this goal and is transforming the backpack sleep experience by bringing more comfort than we thought possible to the backcountry. It’s designed to go anywhere – near or far – and never compromise your sleep. For anyone who has spent time in the backcountry, you know how important that is – the better you rest, the better you adventure.”

NeoLoft: Revolutionizing Backpacking Comfort

NeoLoft sets a new standard in backpacking mattresses with its unparalleled comfort and innovative features. At 4.6 inches thick, it is the thickest backpacking pad ever offered by Therm-a-Rest, designed to provide exceptional cushioning and support. The 3D construction and ContourCore Matrix technology ensure optimal body alignment and pressure relief, while side rails enhance stability during sleep. The NeoLoft boasts a remarkable 4.7 R-value for warmth, making it suitable for a variety of climates. The stretch knit fabric is soft to the touch, and the TwinLock Valve system makes inflating and deflating a breeze. NeoLoft packs down to the size of a one-liter water bottle and starts at 25 ounces (size regular). For more information, see the product video here.

Enhanced Trail Pro Series: Comfort Meets Sustainability

Growing its camp comfort collection – for those who don’t want to compromise their sleep in the backcountry – Therm-a-Rest is updating its current Trail Pro, and introducing a new Trail ProLite to its lineup of self-inflating sleeping pads. The updated Trail Pro and new Trail ProLite feature Stratacore foam for enhanced insulation and comfort. The new stretch knit fabric is soft to the touch and contours to the body, relieving pressure points for a more restful sleep. The fabric is solution dyed as well, reducing the amount of water used in the dying process by 4.5 (Trail Pro) to nine gallons (Trail ProLite). The lighter and more compact Trail ProLite is a comfortable two inches thick, and 24 ounces (regular). The more comfortable Trail Pro is a generous three inches thick and weighs in at 30 punches. The R-value for the Trail ProLite is 3.8 and the Trail Pro is 4.4.

Moultrie Launches Feed Hub Cellular-Enabled Feeder Management System

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 11, 2024) — Moultrie, the leading innovator in trail camera and feeder technology, today announces the launch of Feed Hub, an industry-first cellular-enabled feeder management system. Moultrie’s Feed Hub is available for purchase from www.MoultrieMobile.com, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Amazon, Bass Pro and Cabela’s, and authorized Moultrie dealers.

Moultrie Feed Hub eliminates the guess and stress of running spin-cast feeders. You no longer have to visit your feeders to check feed levels, change settings, and check battery life. With the new cellular-connected Feed Hub timer and Feed Level Detector, paired with the Moultrie Mobile app, users can monitor feed and battery levels, run feeders on command, receive alerts when the feeder is clogged, and remotely adjust feed times anytime, anywhere. Even if you don’t own a Moultrie spin-cast feeder, Feed Hub can easily be installed in most major spin-cast feeders on the market.

“Feed Hub began as a solution to hunter frustration over managing feeders on remote properties,” said Daniel Wilson, General Manager for Moultrie. “We set out to expand cellular connectivity beyond trail cameras and integrate the seamless convenience it provides to game feeders. Previously, hunters couldn’t monitor and control feeders remotely. Feed Hub removes the guesswork from feeder maintenance and performance.”

Feed Hub is a three-part system consisting of a universal Feed Level Detector that can be mounted in nearly any game feeder, a cellular-connected timer installed in the feeder kit, and the Moultrie Mobile App that allows users to control the system remotely.

The Feed Hub family of products includes three core models:

  • Feed Hub Universal ($99.99), is built for easy installation to replace the existing timer in almost any spin-cast feeder on the market, regardless of brand. For a full compatibility listing, visit moultriemobile.com/feedhub.
  • Feed Hub Kit ($149.99), which includes the Feed Hub hardware pre-installed in a Moultrie Pro Hunter II Feeder Kit for the ultimate plug-and-play solution for any Moultrie Quick-lock feeder.
  • Deer Feeder Connected ($199.99), a Moultrie 30-gallon feeder with Feed Hub Kit included.
