Testing on both gas and electric vehicles with a cargo box on the towbar (in their test they used Thule Onto, a semi-hard cargo solution), they found that both fuel and energy consumption was lower than when driving without a cargo box.

“One way to get more packing space without increasing energy consumption is the latest trend of mounting a cargo box on the vehicle’s towbar. We found that both the petrol vehicle and the electric vehicle had slightly lower consumption with the box fitted than when the vehicle was running completely empty on the test route.”

SALT LAKE CITY – (January 9, 2023) – Outdoor Retailer, the premier U.S. gathering and business event for the $862 billion outdoor industry, will feature an expanded schedule of in-person educational sessions, panel discussions, and trend presentations led by industry experts, plus a daily lineup of networking and industry events for the industry to connect and learn. Sessions and events will take place throughout Outdoor Retailer Snow Show from January 10-12, 2023, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City.

Snow Show opens with the Industry Breakfast hosted by Snowsports Industries America (SIA) on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:30 a.m. in the Hyatt featuring Dr. Abe Bakhsheshy, professor of organizational behavior from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, who will speak on emotional intelligence and leadership. SIA Industry + Intelligence sessions also take place in the show education areas each day.
