FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 28, 2022
BOULDER, Colo. – Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) executive director Lise Aangeenbrug today released the following statement regarding the introduction of the Inflation Reduction Act:
“Climate change is not an abstract theory. We are seeing its impacts play out in real-time, dramatically shaping all aspects of the economy, the way people live, and our planet. The Inflation Reduction Act represents one of the greatest opportunities in recent memory to turn the tide on climate change, strengthen local economies, and show the American people that Congress hears their calls to invest in climate solutions. Although this package does not include one of the industry’s top priorities – the Civilian Climate Corps – we believe this bill is essential for the future of our great outdoors, the $689 billion outdoor recreation economy it supports, and the 4.3 million Americans who work in this vital industry. We are grateful for the leadership and perseverance of many of our elected leaders in the Senate to bring us to this important moment.”
