STOCKHOLM, Sweden (December 12, 2025) — RECCO, global manufacturer of advanced rescue technology that enables faster outdoor searches, announces its second-year product collaboration with Mammut, one of the world’s leaders in performance mountain apparel and equipment. With the release of the Eiger Free, for freeriding, skitouring and -mountaineering in extreme conditions, the collaboration between RECCO and Mammut grows with a new collection oriented toward the freeriding community.
The new collection includes the Eiger Free Pro jacket and bibs, as well as the Eiger Free Advanced, a more lightweight collection. These high-performance shell collections are offered in three colorways for men and women. Integration of RECCO reflectors provides searchability for rescue teams in case of an emergency.
“We wanted to build something dedicated to the sport and the community behind it,” said Alfred Stoppacher, Eiger and Innovation Lead at Mammut. “So we took what we know from creating high-end mountaineering products and shaped it into gear that reflects the freeride culture.”
RECCO reflectors are found across a range of outdoor products, across all seasons. A global standard in outdoor search technology, the system is used on 900+ locations in 32 countries of ski resorts and rescue organizations. Search and Rescue professionals are able to utilize RECCO technology to search for people year-round.
“Last year’s Mammut Eiger Extreme first integrated RECCO reflectors in a kit designed for climbers and alpinists, and now we’re broadening the collaboration with a line designed specifically for skiers and snowboarders,” said Fredrik Steinwall, CEO at RECCO. “Mammut is a brand that’s synonymous with pinnacle outdoor innovation, so we’re excited to have RECCO technology be part of that offering.”
The RECCO handheld detector can search efficiently in snowy conditions, while the RECCO SAR Helicopter Detector can quickly search large areas, covering a square kilometer in six minutes. The RECCO detector network continues to grow with more and more placements being added. Currently, there are 45 RECCO SAR Helicopter Detectors globally, with 14 located in North America, 28 units deployed across Europe, one in Nepal and two in New Zealand.
The Mammut Eiger Free collection will be available to consumers in Fall 2026.
