BOULDER, Colo. – Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) today released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision on West Virginia vs. EPA:
“This court decision will have far-reaching impacts on the government’s ability to regulate carbon emissions, not to mention put a roadblock directly in front of the Administration’s goal to reduce the nation’s carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030,” says Outdoor Industry Association Executive Director Lise Aangeenbrug. “America’s $689 billion outdoor industry relies on clean air and a stable climate. Sadly, the impacts of climate change on our industry and our precious outdoors are more evident each day. In light of this decision, it is incumbent on Congress to advance climate policies that prioritize our air, lands, and fight climate change. We are encouraged by many of the climate provisions being discussed on Capitol Hill with regard to the reconciliation bill. We are hopeful this reconciliation measure can be passed, which will be an important step in the long fight for climate action.”
