After the successful launch of the Skogan and Stave day-hiking boots last year, Kodiak, the 110-year-old Canadian footwear brand, is doubling down on the trails with more hiking styles for both men and women in Spring ’22. The new collection also furthers Kodiak’s Built For What Matters sustainability initiative, with more recycled materials used throughout the line.

“We got back to our brand roots in the outdoors with our men’s Skogan and Stave hikers last year and it was a hit,” said Karen McSorley, senior brand manager. “We had always planned for a women’s hiker and the new Kenosee checks all the boxes for us—it’s comfortable, lightweight and durable with great traction, built using a host of recycled materials.”

The Kenosee features a mesh upper made from 50% recycled plastics, combined with waterproof suede and nylon. A lightweight compression-molded EVA midsole and Kodiak’s Comfortzone ECO footbed keep feet dry and comfortable with minimal environmental impact. The Kenosee includes Kodiak’s signature slip-resistant rubber outsole, with linings and shoelaces made from 100% recycled plastics, and an abrasion and scuff resistant TecTuff®toe and heel guard. The Kenosee is available in a mid (MSRP $150 USD/$170 CDN) and low cut (MSRP $140 USD/$160 CDN). There will also be a men’s mid version called the Selkirk (MSRP: $155 USD/$170 CDN).

Also new for 2022 is the Brigden, a stylish, athletic-inspired, low-top sneaker for women, built to take on the urban outdoors. The Brigden features a 50% recycled plastic mesh upper, 100% recycled plastic laces, and Kodiak’s Comfortzone ECO footbed. Kodiak’s slip-resistant rubber outsole provides trustworthy traction and ScotchguardProtector from 3M repels water, oil and stains. (MSRP $125 USD/$150 CDN).

Adding to Kodiak’s safety line is the Quicktrail and Greb collection. The Quicktrail combines innovative materials, modern athletic designs and lightweight performance with critical safety features. Built with a 50% recycled plastic abrasion resistant nylon upper and 100% recycled plastic laces, the Quicktrail also features a scuff-resistant toe protector and heel guard and a Comfortzone LITE footbed built from Ortholite® Hybrid compound (MSRP $120 USD/$140 CDN).

The Greb boot, named after the original co-founder of Kodiak, Charles E. Greb is a multi-purpose safety boot built with a full-grain leather upper and padded tongue with a comfort collar, a moisture-wicking Cambrelle® lining, a ComfortzoneLITE footbed with Ortholite® Hybrid compound, and slip and oil resistant TPU outsole. The Greb boot is available in eight-inch (MSRP $130 USD/$170 CDN) and six-inch styles (MSRP $120 USD/$160 CDN).
