Description: On Wednesday, June 19, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) and onX will announce an exciting new project to identify the acreage of landlocked state trust lands in each Western state, and we will fully unveil the acreage of inaccessible state lands in Colorado. We will further discuss access barriers and their implications for outdoor recreation, as well as opportunities to make additional state lands open and accessible to public recreation.
This project builds on a 2018 collaboration between the TRCP and onX titled, “Off Limits, but Within Reach.” That analysis and report found that 9.52 million acres of federally managed public lands in 13 Western states are landlocked and lack legal public access. We are excited to release new numbers for inaccessible state trust lands in 2019.
