Outdoor Research, LLC. (OR), a leading brand in the outdoor and tactical apparel industry, has partnered with Business For America (BFA) to help support safe voting this election year. In response to the urgent need for supplies and support at the state and local level this election, Business for America has launched Operation Vote Safe.
The national, all-hands-on-deck, nonpartisan initiative is mobilizing civic-minded businesses to support a safe and secure election by donating PPE, equipment, and related supplies to state and county election officials. In response, Outdoor Research has donated 10,000 customizable face masks with high-efficiency filters. The face masks are being donated to the Washington and Pennsylvania Departments of State for distribution to county election offices. Outdoor research is also donating 80 high-performance rain jackets for distribution within WA state. These donations will be used for people sorting mail, handling drop box location pick up sites, transporting mail, moving equipment, and interfacing with the several thousands of voters that will need in-person support.
“Outdoor Research’s donation is essential for ensuring safe and healthy elections in both Washington and Pennsylvania,” says Business for America CEO, Sarah Bonk. “We are seeing the business community step up in ways they never have before to reinforce state and county elections efforts, in jeopardy due to COVID-19, lack of funding, and an unprecedented expected voter turnout.”
Outdoor Research and Business For America encourage everyone to make a plan for voting this election year. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Make sure you’re registered. In many states, the deadline for registering is 30 days before the election. Find out where your polling place is, if your state allows early, in-person voting leading up to election day, and if you can vote by mail. If you’re voting in person, please consider the safety of all involved and wear a mask.
