Coffee at its Peak: All-New VSSL Java Brings an Elevated Coffee Experience to the Outdoors

ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia – August 18, 2020 – VSSL, creator of modern preparedness essentials for the outdoors, today introduced the VSSL JAVA – a premium, ultra-durable, portable hand coffee grinder, backed by a lifetime warranty. The JAVA was designed with caffeine-fueled adventure enthusiasts in mind, with high-end construction and first-class components that deliver exceptional coffee, no matter where the road may lead.

“All great adventures tend to begin the same way – with an early start, as you gather your energy and prepare to rise to the occasion,” said Todd Weimer, Founder of VSSL. “But oftentimes, you’re stuck with lackluster coffee that doesn’t properly fuel you for the day ahead. The JAVA changes all that – you can finally enjoy a coffee experience as epic as your surroundings.”

The VSSL JAVA incorporates the rugged aircraft-grade aluminum construction of VSSL’s other signature products, ensuring it will withstand the toughest of beatings on the road, the trail, and wherever adventures may lead. It features a never-before-seen “Clip and Flip” handle, comprising a collapsible carabiner rated to withstand loads up to 200 pounds, allowing adventurers to quickly detach the JAVA and crank out freshly ground coffee when the birds start chirping. The handle is additionally designed to extend, offering increased leverage for easy grinding while on-the-go.

A truly premium coffee-lovers’ must-have, the VSSL JAVA includes stainless steel burr blades, which provide a precise grind that helps retain the coffee’s full flavor profile, plus industry-leading ball bearings to maintain uniform grind size and to prevent wobbling. The JAVA offers 30 unique settings, so coffee purists can attain the optimal grind, whether preparing espresso, pour-over, or anything in between.

“Imagine an exceptional cup of coffee, straight out of your tent at dawn,” continued Weimer. “We’ve finally made the dream a reality. Like with all VSSL products, we want you to not only survive, but thrive in your pursuits. It’s time to elevate the quality of your adventures.”

The VSSL JAVA (MSRP: $145) has a lifetime warranty and is now available for pre-sale on Kickstarter. The Kickstarter campaign offers the JAVA at discounted pricing, including an Early Bird Special [$90], a Kickstarter Special [$99], a Group JAVA Pack [$370], and an exclusive Nomad Coffee Travel Kit [$190]. The Java will launch nationwide in March 2021.

Rumpl Launches Collection Designed by Native American Artists with the First Peoples Fund

Today, Rumpl, the category leader in technical blankets, announces the launch of a new collection designed by Native American artists in partnership with the First Peoples Fund, an organization whose mission is to support and empower Native communities and artists. The collection is comprised of two original prints by Northern Cheyenne artist Jordan Craig and one original print by artist Darby Raymond-Overstreet, a member of the Navajo Nation. The prints are available across multiple Rumpl products, and a portion of each sale will benefit First Peoples Fund.

“Regrettably and naively, we have appropriated Indigenous design concepts in the past. Thankfully, our community let us know, helped us learn about the issues and create a program to do this the right way. In partnering with Jordan Craig, Darby Raymond-Overstreet and the First Peoples Fund, Rumpl is taking the first step in our commitment to represent Indigenous art correctly and respectfully,” says Wylie Robinson, CEO and founder of Rumpl. “We hope that Rumpl can be leaders in this arena and inspire other brands to do the right thing by supporting the communities from which this art was inspired. We owe a huge debt of gratitude not just to the Indigenous artist community for giving us this opportunity, but also to our community of customers who brought these issues to our attention, helped us to develop a correction plan, and continued to support us while we went through this learning curve. We are so proud of what this collection represents and hope it can inspire other brands to further support marginalized and underrepresented communities of artists.”

Jordan Ann Craig is a Northern Cheyenne artist based in California and New Mexico. She received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and her work includes painting, prints, textile prints, and artist books. Jordan Craig’s Rumpl prints Woven Daydream and Keep Me Warm feature neutral, natural colors and bold geometric shapes, available across the Original Puffy Blanket (MSRP $129 USD), the NanoLoft Puffy Blanket (MSRP $199 USD), the Down Puffy Blanket (MSRP $259 USD), and the Shammy Towel (MSRP $54 USD).

Darby Raymond-Overstreet is an award-winning digital artist, printmaker and member of the Navajo Nation. She also received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and, through her work and studies, creates Navajo/Diné pattern designs that materialize through portraits, landscapes, and abstract forms. Darby Raymond-Overstreet’s print Sundown features warm red tones and a banded, geometric design that is inspired and derived from traditional Navajo/Diné textiles, available across the NanoLoft Puffy Blanket (MSRP $199 USD), the Stash Mat (MSRP $84 USD), and the Shammy Clean-Up Kit (MSRP $54 USD).

Both Craig and Raymond-Overstreet join the robust Rumpl Artist Division, a collaborative program that showcases the work of accomplished and upcoming artists who use diverse mediums to inspire creativity in impassioned communities around the world.

The Rumpl Artist Division collection with Native artists will launch with Jordan Craig’s prints on August 18, and Darby Raymond-Overstreet’s print will launch soon after on August 20. The collection will be available for purchase on www.Rumpl.com.

With improved functionality and navigation, the new website offers a refreshed, more seamless shopping experience for Royal Robbins customers across the U.S. and Europe.

Specifically designed to meet the rigors of outdoor adventures through a more sustainable material solution, Royal Robbins new line of Hemp Socks is naturally soft, odor resistant, and blended with recycled polyester and nylon for lasting durability.

“We have a long history of bringing outdoor smart casual fabrications to market that are also easy on the planet,” said Michael Millenacker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Robbins. “As we looked to approach the sock category with something truly unique that matched the heritage of our brand DNA, we found there’s no better material for a sock than hemp because of its natural performance qualities and lighter footprint on the environment. We’re excited to launch into this new category in a differentiated way and also donate a portion of all sock proceeds to the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund, our partner directly funding local projects engaged in the conservation of unique natural and cultural resources of adventure travel destinations.”

Hemp yarns are inherently odor resistant, temperature regulating, moisture managing, hard wearing, and comfortable across a variety of climates. Hemp is a highly sustainable textile crop and grown primarily with rain water, zero pesticides, and its deep root systems promote soil health and prevent erosion.

For every pair purchased, Royal Robbins will donate 1% of sales to the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF) to fund conservation projects that protect cultural and natural resources and help local economies dependent on tourism.

prAna, creator of the Clothing for Positive Change and a leader in sustainable, outdoor fashion, announced today the Responsible Packaging Movement (RPM), a program to inspire and create industry-wide change. Since 2010, prAna has taken a grassroots approach to reduce plastic and excess waste in its packaging. Now, the brand is taking the next step, pledging to eliminate plastic from its consumer packaging by 2021, the use of Ancient and Endangered Forest by 2022, and to eliminate virgin forest fibers by 2025. With the Responsible Packaging Movement, prAna invites brands and consumers to join in this journey. prAna is pleased to announce that Mara Hoffman, Outerknown, and Toad and Co. have joined the movement at launch along with supporting non-profit partners 5 Gyres and Canopy.

“As a sustainability leader in the apparel industry, we have always looked beyond our products to use our business as a platform for good,” said Rachel Lincoln, director of sustainability, prAna. “We are so excited to launch this movement to bring people together with a platform to share knowledge. The RPM represents the continuation of our journey and our commitment to Clothing for Positive Change.”

When a brand joins the movement, prAna will share its learnings along with resources including prAna’s Responsible Packaging Guides, advice through webinars and email communications, access to industry leaders via roundtable discussions, networking with like-minded brands, and a social media tool kit to guide brands in sharing their progress.

Sustainability has been a core value of prAna since the brand was founded in 1992. prAna’s commitment to make Clothing for Positive Change reflects the brand’s promise to produce clothing while respecting the planet and its people. prAna’s grassroots approach to reduce plastic in its packaging started in 2010 when a store manager emailed prAna’s corporate office with a photo showing a mound of poly bags and a message, “What do I do with all this?”  Since then, prAna has eliminated more than 17 million poly bags from the supply chain (from 2010-2019).

Brands interested in joining the movement can sign up at prana.com/reshape-packaging. Consumers are encouraged to share ways they are eliminating plastic and virgin-sourced forest fibers from their daily lives on social media using #ReshapePackaging to build awareness.
