Zinke's Monumental Decision: Let Him Know Your POV

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will soon recommend that President Trump make or break national monuments

May 11, 2017

Following President Trump’s Executive Order 13792 issued on April, which directed the U.S. Department of the Interior to review 27 national monuments designated since January 1996, the Interior Department today opened a public comment period to inform Secretary Zinke’s “recommendations for Presidential actions, legislative proposals, or other appropriate actions.”

Our nation’s public lands, including National Monuments, are powerful economic drivers. They support vibrant recreation economies and jobs in their communities. These cities and towns across America attract and promote increased and diversified jobs and faster-growing economic sectors than those without.

Help protect these 27 national monuments! Here’s what you can do:

  1. Review the list of national monuments (listed below) that are part of the DOI review and therefore threatened;
  2. Send your comments to DOI through the OIA Advocacy Center (comments will list you, not OIA as sender) *Please note that any submitted comments will be part of an official record:

**DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS ON BEARS EARS NATIONAL MONUMENT IS MAY 26, 2017**

**DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS ON ALL OTHER MONUMENTS IS JULY 10, 2017*
