Utah is blessed with incredible landscapes, passionate outdoors people and a vibrant outdoor recreation industry. I’m guessing that one or more of these factors are why so many choose Utah as a place to live and work. Right now, a bill is in front of the Utah legislature that helps guarantee these reasons remain true.

Access to the outdoors is a critical piece of the infrastructure that supports our industry and as Utah grows, so to should our investment in the paths, trailheads, boat ramps and parks that connect people to the outdoor experience. Simply put, it’s smart business to ensure customers have great places to enjoy our products.

The bill in question, HB 52, calls for a grant program run by Utah’s Office of Outdoor Recreation to help communities build new outdoor recreation amenities. It passed unanimously out of committee last week, but there is still work to do. Legislators need to hear from outdoor businesses voices (i.e. you) to ensure the $5 million needed to jumpstart this program makes it through to the appropriations process.

Please consider writing your representative today, and let them know you support the full funding of this bill. You can find contact information for your House representative HERE.
