Portland, OR – June 22,  2023  – Snow Peak, an international Japanese camping brand with 65 years of history, is pleased to announce a partnership with Sundance Mountain Resort, based in Sundance, Utah. Last week, at Snow Peak’s global headquarters in Japan, the two brands signed an agreement expanding on their existing relationship to bring an exceptional camping experience to the resort.

Kicking off the design phase this year, Snow Peak and Sundance Mountain Resort will bring to life refined and comfortable campsites, as well as a community gathering center with the mission to unite people and alleviate the stresses of modern life through time together outside.  Overnight guests will be greeted with a fully outfitted Snow Peak elevated camping experience high on the mountainside, including a custom platform tent, king size bed and linens and a full suite of Snow Peak equipment to enhance their stay.  Food and beverages, as well as experiences focused on the intersection of nature and creativity will be included in the stay and provided by an on-mountain camp host.

“There is nothing more restorative than spending extended time immersing oneself in nature,” said Matt Liddle, Chief Futures Officer at Snow Peak USA. “That has been Snow Peak’s guiding ethos since our founding in 1958.  We are delighted to form this partnership with the iconic Sundance Mountain Resort, which has been a steward of the land and of the human spirit for decades.  Our collaboration based on shared values and respect will bring to life a visionary Snow Peak elevated camping experience at the foot of Mount Timpanogos, high in the Wasatch Mountains.”

With its US roots originally based in a culture of lightweight backpacking, Snow Peak has evolved in recent years, recentering around its unique perspective on camping. Through its beautifully designed, lifetime-guaranteed gear, the brand offers a camping experience that brings comfort and community to the forefront. With the launch of the brand’s Portland restaurant, Takibi in 2021 and the forthcoming Campfield in Long Beach, Washington, Snow Peak committed to creating spaces that foster human connection and center on the rhythms of nature. This partnership with Sundance Mountain Resort serves as Snow Peak’s first experiential collaboration, bringing both brands’ purpose to life.

“One of our highest purposes at Sundance Mountain Resort is to provide guests with immersive experiences in nature that foster the human spirit,” said Chad Linebaugh, Sundance Mountain Resort’s President and General Manager. “I have now seen and experienced Snow Peak in the mountains of Japan and we are excited to adapt their product design and experience to our Wasatch Mountain setting here at Sundance.  We expect to learn a lot as we proceed with an initial phase one launch later this summer.”

This year, Snow Peak and Sundance Mountain Resort have already embarked on two experiential collaborations. This month, Snow Peak’s Portland, Oregon-based restaurant, Takibi, is hosting a pop-up at Sundance Mountain Resort. Takibi’s Executive Chef Cody Auger and Bar Manager Alex Anderson hosted a 10-course omakase experience on Sunday, June 18 in the Tree Room. And from June 16-25, the Owl Bar menu will feature a dozen signature Takibi dishes and cocktails using ingredients sourced from Utah and Oregon.

Additionally, Snow Peak will host the sold-out Snow Peak Way Central at Sundance Mountain Resort. Snow Peak Way is an annual community campout for the brand’s customers, employees and friends.  The event has evolved and grown over the years’ but has always offered a deep connection point for Snow Peak employees and customers. Snow Peak Way events offer a blend of activities, community moments, and unprogrammed free time. Attendees have full access to a suite of workshops and informational demonstrations hosted by partners and friends of the brand. Snow Peak Way Central will take place at Sundance Mountain Resort on June 23-25.
