The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) was signed into law over 50 years ago and ever since has been a foundational conservation program to protect and provide recreational access to our nation’s public land. Sign the form below to voice your support.
LWCF is funded through a small percentage of federal lease royalties from natural resource extraction in our nation’s Outer Continental Shelf. In most years LWCF has seen a majority of funds diverted to other, unrelated purposes despite the fact that recent polling shows that 85 percent of American voters want and expect the nation to continue to invest in LWCF.
Alarmingly, LWCF was allowed to expire in September 2015 but was temporarily reauthorized for three years and and is now due to expire in 2018. We need to continue to work toward long-term reauthorization and full funding of the program for our local, state and federal lands to reap the benefits of this program.
Take action by urging your elected officials to support LWCF.
