Outdoor Foundation 2014 Annual Report

As the philanthropic arm of Outdoor Industry Association, the Outdoor Foundation is focused on engaging young people, investing in local communities and informing the industry and public at-large about the importance of outdoor recreation. The Foundation aggregates and leverages funds from hundreds of outdoor companies and combines this support with other sectors to achieve its vision of driving a massive increase in outdoor recreation.

As the country becomes more urban and diverse, the challenges of connecting youth with the outdoors have become increasingly complex. As a result, the Outdoor Foundation is adapting its strategies to meet these changing conditions.

  • Engage young leaders, especially college students, in a nationwide movement to dramatically increase outdoor participation among a new generation.
  • Invest in effective, sustainable local projects that expand outdoor participation to diverse, new audiences.
  • Inform decision makers in the public and private sectors about the trends in outdoor participation to influence programs, products and policies.
