Whispbar’s new bike fork mount wins Best of Show award from GearJunkie.com, and SNEWS bestows Best of Booth award on the joint Yakima/Whispbar booth

Yakima and Whispbar– two stand-alone brands under the parent company Yakima Products, Inc. – received two honors at the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, which was held in Salt Lake City on August 2-5.
GearJunkie.com tapped Whispbar’s WB200 bike fork mount as one of the show’s top new products, distinguishing it from the thousands of products unveiled at Summer OR. GearJunkie editor Stephen Regenold said “The fork mount connects to a Whispbar rack bar in seconds via adapters that cam into a T-slot on the bar. Its tray is a solid swoop of aluminum, and the front adapter is so refined it looks like sculpture art.”
The WB200 is part of Whispbar’s new full line of accessories for its award-winning Whispbar rack system. The new Whispbar ski, bike and boat mounts seamlessly integrate with the rack system, which has been recognized for its unparalleled sleek and aerodynamic design and enhances the overall vehicle appearance and performance. The WB200 will be available in December 2012 for $249.
Whispbar and Yakima also received kudos from SNEWS, which gave its double garage booth a “Best of Booth” award. Noted SNEWS, “One parent company with two distinct personalities in a neighborhood of garages. Walk from the art gallery feel of Whispbar into the experience driven garage of Yakima.”
The distinctive garages marked the launch of two new communications initiatives for Whispbar and Yakima. Whispbar’s initiative, “The Journey, Uncompromised”, highlights the brand’s focus on the car enthusiast unwilling to compromise their pursuit of design and performance.
Also key to Whispbar’s brand launch is delivering a sophisticated and innovative digital experience that consumers will see across online and brick and mortar retail in 2013. Not only has Whispbar created an entirely new category within the rack industry, but it will take the consumer engagement and purchasing experience to an entirely new level. This will be apparent across all marketing platforms, including new packaging and the new website, www.whispbar.com, which launches November 1, 2012.
Yakima’s “TAKE MORE FRIENDS” initiative is built on the true benefit of Yakima products: getting the gear out of your car so you have room to take more friends. Yakima is targeting the Social Adventurist, consumers who are committed to leading an active outdoor lifestyle, and have lots of gear and an even bigger collection of friends.
Central to the new Yakima brand platform is telling real stories of Social Adventurists across all of its digital and social platforms, leveraging Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
A redesigned Yakima.com website was also relaunched last week, with a blog called Road Trips that is intended to create a deeper and more emotional connection with the brand. Within the newly designed website, Yakima’s fit configurator has also gone through a complete overhaul. The Configurator allows consumers to enter in their exact car make, model and year to determine their ideal base rack and mounts to get the gear out of their cars so they can TAKE MORE FRIENDS.
For the consumer who is new to the cargo management category, Yakima will also launch a series of “How To” videos to help educate them on how to choose the right rack systems that best suits their lifestyle and activities.
