Verde Brand Communications, a leading integrated brand communications firm servicing the outdoor and active-lifestyle markets, is hosting an unconventional media trip this summer. Verde is the ‘Official Sponsor of the Family Reunion’, in partnership with 10 Barrel Brewing, GCI Outdoor, Gregory Packs, MSR, ORCA, OrthoLite, Outdoor Research, ThermaRest and Wyoming Whiskey.
Instead of congregating in large groups at a brand’s headquarters or at an outing to a far-flung location, Verde and its client family are teaming up to host the “reverse media trip” to send journalists home after a long 15+ months.
As the country reemerges from the pandemic with caution, Verde envisioned a unique opportunity for journalists to get to know its clients on a different type of adventure.
“When it comes to both personal and professional travel, this past year was obviously not the average one for anybody,” said Verde Director Lauren Haber. “ It has been emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting, and far from the normal in any industry. While we’re all excited travel restrictions are lifting, we want to be mindful of the health and well-being of our contacts while still providing an opportunity to showcase what’s new and exciting from the outstanding brands we work with.”
With this in mind, the creative and solution-oriented team at Verde — with the support of its family of brands — came up with a concept to host the not-so-average return to press trips.
Verde and its partners are recreating a good old-fashioned family reunion — they will supply the gear for travel to see family as well as the backyard BBQ or family camping trip. The media simply get to enjoy some quality time with the people they have missed the most. Verde will also organize a fun itinerary for each member of the media, customized by location, with backyard games, BBQ and drink recipes, as well as local trails or outdoor adventures to experience with the family.
“Traditionally we would host media at our brand’s respective headquarters or planned outdoor excursions at an exotic location. The reality is that we have to be nimble, thoughtful and adapt to the current environment,” said Kristin Carpenter, CEO and Founder of Verde. “We feel it is important to support our media friends by creating a memorable experience — the long-awaited family reunion. There will still be time to host our own in-person media trips, but for now, let’s show our partners that we’re focused on what’s really important in life. They’ll see that our clients’ products aren’t just great during adventurous trips, they’re also perfect to support more personal experiences.”
