Tailwind Nutrition athlete Courtney Dauwalter, 37, won the women’s division of the 2022 Hardrock 100 this weekend— with a time of 26:44:36— setting a new course record. Dauwalter was joined by Tailwind Nutrition Events and Athlete Manager, Maggie Guterl, who finished 11th, as part of the largest women’s field to-date for the Hardrock 100 race. On the men’s side, another Tailwind athlete, John Kelly, finished in 10th.

“Hardrock 100 is so beautiful and so tough! I felt really lucky to be moving my feet around the loop and was definitely trying to soak in the views as much as possible,” said Dauwalter. “Sharing this weekend with the rest of the runners and my crew made it very special.”

This is Dauwalter’s second time racing Hardrock, an extremely challenging course through the San Juan Mountains, starting and finishing in Silverton and traveling through Telluride, Ouray and Lake City, Colorado. This year’s course totaled 102.5 miles and had 33,000 feet of elevation gain and loss.

“Being part of the Hardrock 100 family is incredibly special and a highlight of the season for the Tailwind team,” said Jeff Vierling, Co-Founder of Tailwind Nutrition. “We’re inspired by the grit and determination of all the racers, and their drive to kiss the rock. We’re super proud of all the athletes, including our very own Maggie finishing Hardrock on her first attempt, Courtney setting a blazing new women’s record, and John finishing top 10 in the men’s field. Amazing!”

On Friday, the day that runners began their 100-mile Hardrock race from downtown Silverton, Tailwind Nutrition also launched a brand new product line called Active Hydration. This new drink mix contains electrolytes, collagen, and vitamin C and mixes clear with water. It has a light, fruity taste, and is a refreshing way to keep your body well balanced and hydrated. Available in four tempting flavors – Cherry Acai, Tangerine Grapefruit, Tropical Orange, and Strawberry Lemonade – Active Hydration is packaged as individual serving packets in 12-pack boxes. One 9-gram packet has 35 calories when mixed with 12-ounces of water.

Active Hydration joins Tailwind’s current product line up made up of Endurance Fuel, a source of complete nutrition, calories, hydration and electrolytes and Recovery, which provides an optimal mix of carbs, complete protein, and electrolytes.

The next race on Dauwalter’s race calendar is Diagonale De Fous in October. To keep up with all of Tailwind’s athletes, check out the Tailwind blog.
