Colorado is giving a gift to the nation this year.
The Christmas Tree that will be placed outside the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C. is being harvested from the White River National Forest. This honor of giving the “People’s Tree” will be celebrated with dozens of stops across the U.S., including one here in Denver.
Capitol Christmas Tree Sendoff Celebration & Donation Drop Off Location
A project of the US Forest Service and Choose Outdoors, sponsored by the Colorado Tourism Office, Mack Trucks,National Association of Convenient Stores and Brookfield Residential, the tree will be on display before heading to its holiday home at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
Join Gov. John Hickenlooper, local businesses and organizations, and community members in celebrating Colorado’s gift to the nation, the Capitol Christmas Tree. The event will include the collection of donations of much needed toys, coats and nonperishable foods, while offering holiday festivities including a visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause, ornament decorating, hot cocoa and much more.
