Outdoor Industry Association® (OIA), Timberland and the entire outdoor industry will celebrate 16 years of community service during the first day of Rendezvous 2014, the outdoor industry’s annual leadership forum scheduled to take place October 7-9 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina.
For the 16th annual Rendezvous Service Project Sponsored by Timberland, OIA and Timberland are partnering with RiverLink, a regional non-profit spearheading the economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River and its tributaries as a destination for everyone to work, live and play.
“We are so pleased to once again be sponsoring this remarkable service event,” said Timberland’s Jay Steere, who has participated in many of the Rendezvous service events. “The French Broad River project offers a wonderful opportunity to partner with RiverLink to clean up the river and build out community areas on its banks. Timberland considers community engagement and service a core value of its business. Along with sponsoring the annual Rendezvous Service Project, the company offers its employees 40 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer.”
This year’s Rendezvous is also filled with enlightening sessions designed to educate, energize and help companies stay at the forefront of the outdoor industry. The program will provide tools to help industry professionals understand the ever changing rules of business, innovation, trends, leadership and successful strategies to compete in the global marketplace. Attendees are encouraged to make their travel plans to arrive in time for pre-excursions that start at 9:00am on Monday, October 6 and then participate in the service project, which starts on Tuesday at 11:30am.
