Buff, Inc. athlete, Rebecca Rusch’s, outstanding performance in 2010 has earned her the Mountain Biker of the Year title, presented by endurance sports giant the Competitor Group.

Among her biggest successes this year are first place finishes in races such as the Trans Andes and the USAS Masters XC World Championships and of course her record-breaking performance at the Lifetime Fitness Leadville Trail 100 race. Setting a new women’s course record by 7:47 minutes, Rebecca beat out some of the world’s best riders to take first place in the grueling race for the second year in a row. Additionally, Rebecca is the three-time 24-hour Solo World Mountain Bike Champion.

Rebecca wore the brand-new-for-2011 Seamless Headband Buff® during the race that started at Leadville, CO’s dizzying 10,000+-foot elevation. Rebecca had little need to shed her Seamless Headband Buff® over the 6+ hour event as she was able to wear it over her ears for warmth during the cold start of the race, then as a headband/helmet liner during the warmer, latter stretches.

“The new Seamless Headband Buff® is like the three bears story: not too hot, not too cold, just right,” Rusch said. “It keeps the sweat out of my eyes, takes the chill off the ears if needed and is super comfy. The Seamless Headband was the perfect accessory for Leadville’s extremely varied conditions.”

Rebecca will accept the Mountain Biker of the Year award at the annual Endurance LIVE Awards Gala at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 22nd at the Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown San Diego. Rebecca was also awarded Adventure Racer of the Year at the Endurance LIVE Awards Gala in 2003.

At Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, Rebecca will host a blindfolded climbing competition at Rock & Ice magazine’s “Climbing Zone.” Rock & Ice’s annual event draws hundreds of spectators and participants in a range of fun and quirky events. The first 15 participants who can complete a climbing route set by Rock & Ice editor Alison Osius while wearing a Buff® over their eyes, will win a Polar Buff® of their own. The event is scheduled for Day 1, Thursday, at 1:30 p.m. Additional details and a full schedule of events at the Climbing Zone can be found here:
