Outdoor Industry Association’s (OIA) Outdoor University Will Offer Robust Education at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 

OIA, the title sponsor and education provider of Outdoor Retailer, has packed lineup of Outdoor University education free to all attendees. 

BOULDER, Colo.  (June 12, 2018) —Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the nonprofit trade association for the outdoor industry, released today the Outdoor University education schedule for Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. Outdoor University session topics include increasing youth participation, water conservation policy, sustainable business innovation and marketing, design and sales trends.  

 “Now, more than ever, it’s vital that the outdoor industry come together as a force and take advantage of our impressive and unique power to create healthy economies and healthy communities,” said Amy Roberts, OIA’s executive director. “The first step in harnessing that power is gaining the knowledge necessary to move forward with purpose and conviction. I hope all Outdoor Retailer Summer Market attendees will come to our free Outdoor University education sessions. The programming is designed to give everyone in the industry the insight we need to thrive in business while improving communities and peoples’ lives through outdoor recreation.”

OIA Industry Breakfast  

An Outdoor Industry Call to Action: All Americans Deserve the Outdoors 

Day 1, July 23, 7:00 – 8:45 a.m., Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center 

It is imperative that the outdoor industry leads the movement to get all Americans outside in a way that mirrors the demographics of our country. From the science behind why humans need the outdoors for their health to the proven community benefits, the Industry Breakfast will inspire and bring to life stories of people who are making meaningful change.  

Florence Williams, Outside Magazine contributing editor and author of “The Nature Fix,” uses scientific investigation to uncover the powers of the natural world to improve health, promote innovation and, ultimately, strengthen our relationships. Yesica Chavez, Children and Nature Network natural leader and youth ambassador for the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, will bring the science into real-life action through the Montbello neighborhood case study. She will be joined by kids from Denver’s Montbello neighborhood, GO WILD Northeast Metro and Environmental Learning for Kids.
