Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and OIAPAC are proud to endorse Representative Suzan DelBene for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives for Washington’s 1st Congressional District.

OIA is the national trade association for suppliers, manufacturers and retailers in the $646 billion outdoor recreation industry with more than 1,300 member companies, large and small. The outdoor industry supports more than 6.1 million American jobs, provides $80 million every year in federal and state tax revenue and makes other significant contributions toward the goal of healthy communities and healthy economies across the United States.

In Washington, the outdoor recreation economy accounts for $22.5 billion in consumer spending, 227,000 jobs and $7.1 billion in wages and salaries, and $1.6 billion in state and local tax revenue. Congresswoman DelBene clearly understands the significant contribution the outdoor industry makes to the state and her district.

“Washington’s 1st District is home to some of our nation’s most beautiful national forests, parks, mountains and waterways, and I’m honored to represent it. I’m also honored to receive the endorsement of the Outdoor Industry Association, a group dedicated to protecting these special places in the Pacific Northwest,” Congresswoman Suzan DelBene said. “As someone who loves hiking and the outdoors, I pledge to continue working with OIA to promote outdoor recreation, which supports more than 220,000 Washington jobs and contributes more than $22 billion a year to our state.”

Congresswoman DelBene has been a champion for the outdoor recreation industry through her support of OIA’s balanced trade agenda and by supporting our public lands. She has taken a stand to support OIA’s premier piece of trade legislation, the U.S. OUTDOOR Act, and has been a champion for public lands through her support of the Land and Water Conservation Fund as well as wildfire defense funding legislation.

“Congresswoman DelBene has been a leader and champion for the outdoor recreation economy for Washington’s 1st District and across the United States,” said Amy Roberts, executive director of OIA. “She has taken a stand to fund and provide access to our public lands, while also making sure they’re protected for future generations to enjoy. We look forward to continuing to work with her.”
