La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain footwear, has been dedicated to producing high-performance shoes and boots for the mountain athlete since 1928. For Fall 2022, the brand introduces several new footwear models that meet the demands of climbers and runners. The G-Tech Boot and Mega Ice Evo are designed for technical alpine pursuits and have all the features that climbers need to perform in variable conditions. Winter trail running demands a lot from footwear, and the new Cyklon Cross GTX is a weather-proof winter running shoe that performs when mother nature is at its worst. La Sportiva also adds three new climbing shoes to their line: the Skwama Vegan, the Tarentula NM, and the Tarantula Boulder.

“The new Fall 22 models represent La Sportiva’s commitment to technical mountain products,” says Jonathan Lantz. President of La Sportiva North America. “The G-Tech in particular is a mountaineering boot that our top athletes have been asking for and will allow them to tackle even greater mountain objectives. We expect that the G-Tech will set a new standard for technical mountain boots. In addition, the climbing community is increasingly requesting vegan products, so we are releasing the Skwama Vegan, a high-performance climbing shoe that allows dedicated climbers to send without compromising their ethics.”

Technical alpine ascents require a boot that can meet the needs of both ice climbers and mountaineers, and the La Sportiva G-Tech Boot blends these two worlds perfectly. The G-Tech is a four-season winter climbing boot that excels in complex terrain, and with a weight of just 620 grams, it sets a new benchmark for the category. Retailing at $769, this boot is the perfect blend of ultralight construction, durable materials, and elite performance, making it the best option on the market for alpine routes that feature ice or mixed climbing. The Mega Ice Evo is waterproof, insulated, and ultra-lightweight, blending the best of climbing shoes and mountaineering boots to create the perfect boot for technical ice and mixed climbing. This $759 boot has everything that dry toolers and competition climbers need to perform in demanding situations. An integrated Cassin dry crampon, internal quick lace system, and a carbon sole make the Mega Ice Evo the perfect boot for high-end mixed climbing.

Runners venturing out into icy terrain need shoes that are up to the task. The Cyklon Cross GTX is a winter running shoe for men and women that allows runners to tackle technical terrain and winter conditions. Featuring a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane and an abrasion resistant gaiter, this shoe will keep your feet warm and protected on the coldest of runs. A BOA fit system allows for quick adjustments, while the FRIXION XF 2.0 outsole offers superb grip on all types of terrain. With a price of $229, the Cyklon Cross GTX allows runners to get out onto the trails, no matter how terrible the weather is.

La Sportiva’s climbing line adds several models for Fall 2022. The Skwama Vegan is a high-performance climbing shoe for men and women that meets the needs of the vegan climbing community. This model utilizes synthetic materials and cutting-edge technology to create a high-end offering. The $199 Skwama Vegan is made without any animal-derived materials, with the only major difference from the Skwama being the SkinLikeTM insole, which provides high breathability while contouring to the foot. The P3® rand on the Skwama Vegan helps to minimize stretch, while the S-Heel construction allows for secure heel hooks.

Priced at $109, the Tarantula Boulder is a fantastic all-around climbing shoe for men and women that is made for newer climbers who are looking to excel quickly. Built off the best-selling Tarantula platform, the Tarantula Boulder comes equipped with new features to help beginner climbers succeed while bouldering and attempting more complex climbing movements. Extra toe rubber helps to increase durability and toe-hooking capabilities, while an updated heel helps with heel hooking.

Gym climbing is continuing to grow at an exponential pace, and to meet the needs of new consumers in this space La Sportiva is releasing the Tarentula NM. The Tarentula NM is made specifically for rental use in climbing gyms and comes with a Vibram® XS Flash 2 Non-Marking sole that leave no marks on indoor walls. The innovative outsole construction on this shoe is easy to resole and the front section has a minimal profile that allows for offcuts from the resoling process to be reused.

The entire footwear line for both men and women will be available at fine specialty retailers across the country and at www.sportiva.com in the Fall of 2022. Select samples for media will be available during the spring and fall of 2022.
