HOKA ONE ONE and the Outbound Collective have partnered to launch a film series to elevate and amplify the stories of underrepresented athletes and leaders within the outdoor community and to inspire everyone to get outside. HOKA ONE ONE is the exclusive presenting partner of the 2020/21 #EveryoneOutside film and content series which includes two longer-form films, and four shorter profiles.

The Outbound Collective’s partnership with HOKA ONE ONE also includes support of its Writers Residency for Underrepresented Storytellers program, as well as a fully-integrated campaign that includes product integrations, editorial collaborations, and a number of community engagement projects.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to work in partnership with the Outbound to amplify the #EveryoneOutside film series, furthering the HOKA value of uplifting BIPOC voices in the outdoor space,” said Martha Garcia, Director of Global Creative and Communications at HOKA. “This has been a true team effort from our entire marketing team, and we’re thrilled to be able to share these meaningful stories with the world.”

The first film entitled “Resilience”, produced in partnership with Wondercamp, features Lesford Duncan and Outdoor Outreach, a San Diego-based nonprofit founded in 1999. The 11-minute film was released online today and spotlights Outdoor Outreach’s mission to connect youth to the transformative power of the outdoors.

With the release of this first film, HOKA ONE ONE and Outbound Collective will host a  virtual panel discussion about the film on Wednesday, December 9, at 8:00 PM EST, 5:00 PM PST. The panel includes:

Amanda Machado will facilitate the panel and ASL interpretation will be available for the duration of the event. The event is free and open to all. Registration is required.

“We’re excited to bring this group of individuals together, to support Les and these amazing young leaders from Outdoor Outreach, and to continue the important conversation of how we can all become better advocates for access to the outdoors,” said Brian Heifferon, CEO and co-founder of Outbound Collective.

The second film of the series will feature Jahmicah Dawes, Founder of SlimPickins Outfitters, the first Black-owned outdoor gear shop in the U.S. The target release date is January 2021.

Previous #EveryoneOutside films have been selected for inclusion in prestigious film festivals including MountainFilm, 5Point Adventure Film Festival, and Banff Film Festival.

This program is one of several Outbound Collective initiatives designed to get everyone outside, especially members of communities that the outdoor industry has historically excluded. They have created initiatives to promote representative storytelling, spotlight diverse artists, highlight underrepresented communities in film, and strengthen partnerships with and between community partners. Through these efforts, The Outbound Collective will build an inclusive and truly representative home for the modern outdoor industry.
