This Saturday–June 4–millions of people in every state will hit the trail to celebrate the 30th annual American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day®. This year’s celebration is about coming together to make the trails and the outdoor community better than ever. Folks of all ages and abilities, trail clubs, non-profits, businesses, and federal and local agencies will come together at events across the country to cultivate a more inclusive trail community and advocate for, maintain, and clean up trails and public lands.

American Hiking and the nationwide trails community invite anyone wanting to get outside to connect with their community at a local trail this Saturday. Events range from family-friendly to competitive, from paddling to equestrian to biking or walking. Anyone can join the nationwide movement by giving back to trails and making sure everyone can enjoy the outdoors with three simple actions:

Join: Find a local event or register a new event;

Pledge: Commit to leaving the trail and the outdoor community better than ever. American Hiking will provide simple ways to make a positive impact;

Connect: Anyone can share how they’ll leave the trail and the outdoor community better than ever by tagging #NationalTrailsDay and @AmericanHiking on social media.

“We welcome everyone, regardless of their trail experience, to come out and join the nationwide trails movement this Saturday,” explains Kate Van Waes, Executive Director of American Hiking Society. “National Trails Day® is the perfect opportunity to get out there with the people you love, give back to the trails that bring us together, and make sure no one is left out.”

American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® is made possible by the generous support of Corporate Sponsors – AKGH™ by Duluth Trading Co., Athletic Brewing Co., REI Co-Op, and Osprey Packs. Federal Partners include the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Federal Highway Administration, and U.S. Forest Service.
