Granite Gear introduces the Crown3 60. This ultralight multi-day pack is the next evolution of our flagship Crown series. The Crown3 60 weighs less than two and half pounds and has a standard carry capacity of 35lbs, and that can be increased to 43lbs with a unique add-on Aluminum stay or remove the frame sheet entirely to decrease the load carry to 25lbs, based entirely on the hiker’s needs. The customization options based on trail, gear requirements, and personal carry style is on full display with the pack.

“The ability to adapt to your hike is what makes the Crown3 60 truly special. Whether you’re fastpacking with ultralight loads or managing long water carries, the Crown 3 60 can handle it.” says Rob Coughlin, General Manager and Host of A Hot Minute.

Watch the unveiling of the Crown3 60 Wednesday October 13th, 2021 on Granite Gear’s Instagram Live show, “A Hot Minute” at 1pm PST/4pm EST. Be the first to see the newly designed pack, get a full breakdown of all the fresh new features, and have an exclusive chance to win one! Rob Coughlin and David Eisenberg, Creative Manager and Lead Product Designer, will be hosting and fielding any questions while on the live! Enter our giveaway on Instagram this week for the chance to win the Undyed Crown3 60 and be the very first hiker to rock this pack on trails. Giveaway details will be announced on Instagram.

The Crown3 introduces Granite Gear’s new undyed colorway, which is our next step in the brand’s sustainability initiative. By skipping the color dying process on the fabrics, hardware and webbing, the pack’s water waste is reduced by 55%.The Crown3 60 boasts a revamped Vapor Current compression molded polyethylene frame sheet which has molded reinforcement channels and die-cut holes to minimize weight without sacrificing structural integrity. The uniqueness of the frame sheet design is the ability to increase carry capacity with the optional add-on of an aluminum stay that integrates seamlessly into the frame sheet. The U-shaped aluminum stay provides reinforcement to the suspension system for treks that require base weights north of 35lbs (sold separately). In further efforts to make carry as comfortable as possible on trail, the Crown3 60 debuts a fully removable dual sternum strap system to provide a secondary hug over the chest.

“The Crown name is synonymous with thru-hiking and the long trails. Designing the next evolution of the Crown series was beyond exciting- it’s one of the most recognizable and trusted packs in the thru-hiking space. Building on that legacy was a challenge our team understood and embraced from the start of the process years back. From the material selection, added (and removable) features to customize to one’s hike, and taking our next step in making more environmentally-conscious packs – it’s a complete revolution (get it- Crown360). We couldn’t be happier with the pack and can’t wait to see them on trail next spring!” says David Eisenberg.
