Diamondback, a leader in the gravel cycling space, has partnered with athlete Rach McBride to facilitate and launch the Women’s Gravel Scholarship for one deserving rider. The partnership is intended to encourage more female and non-binary participation in the rapidly growing sport, and to help remove barriers to entry, Diamondback will provide a model of its newest carbon gravel bike, the Haanjo 8C and swag from McBride’s other sponsors.

McBride believes that everyone has a right to participate in the sports they are passionate about, no matter their gender. McBride’s journey as a non-binary athlete has encouraged them to put in the legwork to help others who may not have the resources to participate.  With three Ironman 70.3 titles, eight Ironman 70.3 fastest bike splits and two Ironman bike course records under their belt, McBride’s career has been undeniably successful, but not always conventional.

“I’m so excited to have been given the opportunity to support women and non-binary folks in the gravel community,” says Rach McBride, Diamondback athlete. “When I first began my tenure in professional riding, there were not many female-bodied athletes. Over the years, the community and sport as a whole has exploded, and I am so grateful to be able to share with even more women and non-binary folks, courtesy of my sponsors.”

The scholarship will be open to female and non-binary applicants and the winner will receive a package from a collection of McBride’s sponsors, including: a Diamondback Haanjo 8C, a gift card from Wattie Ink, a pair of shoes from Lake Cycling, and a Nuun Hydration kit. This extensive kit of gear provides the recipient with the essential kickstarter they need to either begin or progress their gravel cycling career.

The application will be open from Oct. 30, 2020 – Nov. 20, 2020. Applicants can find the application rules and regulations at diamondback.com.
