The outdoor industry has long offered dedicated events and spaces for C-Suite executives and industry newbies. Until recently, ambitious, mid-careerists often felt that there wasn’t a place just for them. Seeking to fill that void, Stasia Raines Walker and Deanna Lloyd founded The Futurist Project in 2011. It exists to create community and a voice for the emerging leaders of the outdoor industry.

Today, the Futurist Project continues to bring together the brightest up-and-coming leaders in the industry to broaden their networks, generate innovative ideas, and tackle the toughest issues facing the industry.

This year’s event will address the future of retail, bringing together representatives from Amazon, Moosejaw, brand strategists, and specialty retailers. How can retailers make peace with Amazon? How do brick-and-mortar shops make themselves irreplaceable members of their communities? How can we embrace new and different retailers to make the outdoors more inclusive, approachable and accessible for all? Join us for a night that will include a panel, an interactive solution-building session, and the community, collaboration, and fun that are mainstays of every Futurist Project event.
