PRESENTERS: Florence Williams, “The Nature Fix”; Chris Castilian, Great Outdoors Colorado; Yesica Chavez, Children and Nature Network & Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office
It’s imperative that the outdoor industry drives the movement to get all Americans outside to mirror the changing demographics of our country. From the science behind why humans need the outdoors for their health to the proven community benefits, the Outdoor Foundation is on a mission to Build an Outdoor Nation of Americans who benefit from nature, love the outdoors and in turn advocate for its protection.
The Outdoor Foundation Board Chair, Sally McCoy and OF Executive Director, Lise Aangeenbrug will share the Foundation’s learnings and where we are set to make the biggest impact in the next 10 years.
The Industry Breakfast will also showcase experts and community leaders to inspire and bring to life stories of people who are thriving outside. Florence Williams, Outside Magazine Contributing Editor and author of The Nature Fix uses scientific investigation to uncover the powers of the natural world to improve health, promote innovation and ultimately, strengthen our relationships. Yesica Chavez, Children and Nature Network Natural Leader and Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Youth Ambassador will bring the science into real-life action through the Montbello neighborhood case study. She will be joined by kids from the Montbello neighborhood, NE Denver GOWILD and Environmental Learning for Kids.
Come hear the inspiring story of how creating urban outdoor experiences led to the creation of an outdoor leader and new opportunities for diverse youth to experience the awe, joy and wonder of the outdoors. Be inspired. Get involved.
