Three Words Americans Love To See On Hang Tags

Even outdoor consumers are label-conscious, especially when it comes to a product’s origins. See who’s catching shoppers’ attention—and how—at the ORSM16 Made in America product showcase.

According to Consumer Reports, “almost 8 in 10 American consumers say they would rather buy an American-made product than an imported one. And more than 60 percent say they’re even willing to pay 10 percent more for it. For some, the decision might stem from a belief in American quality and safety. Others might think it’s the best way to support the American economy and workers. But in our increasingly complex global economy, how much meaning does a label stating ‘Made in America’ still hold?”

In the outdoor industry? A lot, according to OIA ConsumerVue, which says it’s one of the functional drivers for today’s outdoor consumer.

That’s why Outdoor Retailer and Outdoor Industry Association are bringing the Made in America Product Showcase back for a third year.

“The Made in America Product Showcase is a great way to demonstrate the value, quality and appeal of these products to outdoor retailers,” said Alex Boian, senior director of Government Affairs for OIA. “Supporting companies who are working hard to make their products in the U.S. is an important part of OIA’s balanced trade agenda. The showcase is an important aspect of the outdoor industry.”

Located on the upper concourse area next to the New Product Showcase, the Made in America Product Showcase will feature products from brands that manufacture in the United States. If you’re a retailer looking to carry Made In America brands, make the showcase your first stop.

And if you’re a manufacturer who’d like to know more about domestic manufacturing, check out our Audio Outdoorist podcast Made In America series, in which Polartec, Sport Science, Kletterwerks and United By Blue share their lessons learned from the showcase and from their brand commitments to producing products in the USA.

The products featured in the Made in America Product Showcase will be raffled off at the OIA Happy Hour on Day 2 (August 4) from 4:30–6:00 p.m.
