Recreation Alert: Support the Land and Water Conservation Fund Today

February 12, 2019

Great news! The United States Senate just passed legislation that permanently reauthorizes the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) bringing the bill one step closer to being enacted into law. We need your help to urge the U.S. House of Representatives to take up the bill and pass it immediately.

LWCF has been one of the most important conservation programs in our nation’s history, providing billions in funding to protect and expand recreational access to our land and water, including projects in every county in the United States. Sadly, Congress allowed LWCF to expire on September 30, 2018.

The Senate’s revival of LWCF came in a monumental legislative package – S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act. This legislation also establishes the Every Kid Outdoors program, giving every fourth-grader in the country free access to America’s public land and waters, the 21st Century Conservation Corps, providing volunteer opportunities and programs for our veterans and America’s youth to conserve and rebuild natural resources, and provides enhancements to our outdoor recreation infrastructure.

This public land legislative package now moves to the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration. We need your help to get it across the finish line! Take Action!

We would not be at this critical juncture were it not for your continuous and active engagement on this important issue.
