Your End-of-Summer Advocacy Checklist

August 30, 2018

Your members of Congress are finishing up their summer recess at home this week and need to hear from you. When Congress returns in September, they will only have a few weeks left in session to work on critical matters for the outdoor recreation industry. Make sure you have connected with them on the following while they are in-district paying attention to their constituents:

Join 300 outdoor businesses by signing on to the Land and Water Conservation Fund business letter asking Congress to reauthorize the fund before it expires on September 30.

Have you asked your members of Congress to cosponsor Recreation Not Red-Tape, the industry’s priority recreation legislation?

Have you shown your support for solving the maintenance backlog issue on our public lands by helping us gain traction on these two new bipartisan bills? (need link)

Did you communicate the outdoor recreation data in your district to your members of Congress?

This is your last chance to get their attention before an action-packed fall. Check out your members’ OIA grade here, and be sure to Vote the Outdoors in a few months!
