OIA Local Recreation Alert: Nevada: OREC’s Lucky 13
Nevada became the thirteenth state to create an office of outdoor recreation – dedicated to improving the state’s outdoor recreation economy – when the legislature passed, and Governor Sisolak signed, Assembly Bill 486.
Located within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Division of Outdoor Recreation will be responsible for coordinating the outdoor industry with state departments of tourism, wildlife, and economic development as they relate to outdoor recreation. The new division will also advocate and coordinate Nevada’s outdoor recreation policy, management and promotion with federal and local government entities.
OIA thanks members who reached out to their legislators and submitted testimony for their efforts to create the Division of Outdoor Recreation.
