Nominations for Outdoor Inspiration Awards Due December 27

Does your organization inspire others to enjoy the outdoors? Do you know of a person or group that goes above and beyond to increase participation in or support for the outdoors?  Nominate them today for the Outdoor Industry Association inaugural Outdoor Inspiration Awards presented by adidas Outdoor.
With more people recreating closer to home and a continuing need to get America’s youth more engaged in outdoor activities, OIA created the Outdoor Inspiration Awards to recognize and champion those individuals, groups and companies whose efforts rouse additional participation in outdoor activities.

“Inspiration is not confined by size, purpose or background. It is defined only by its impact on others,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, president and CEO of Outdoor Industry Association. “With the support of adidas Outdoor, we’re hoping to shine a light on those people and programs that inspire ever-greater participation in outdoor activities.”

Nominations for the Outdoor Inspiration Awards can come from anyone and include:

  • Individuals: Employees, volunteers, athletes, teachers, etc., where one person has motivated and inspired others to enjoy, participate in and support outdoor activities.
  • Groups: Entire communities, schools, fund-raising groups, guide services, etc. where two or more people have joined to get great things done, and get even better things started.
  • Companies: Company nominees are heralded for their dedication to outdoor efforts that have a commercial or business-oriented framework.
  • Nomination forms are due December 27, 2010.

Awards Ceremony
Winners will receive their awards on the evening of January 21, 2011 during Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City at. A VERY famous and recognizable mountaineer will be the emcee for the debut celebration. Exact details on location and time will be released in the coming weeks.

Who can attend?
Anyone involved in the outdoor industry and interested in the inspirational stories and achievements is encouraged to attend.
