TORONTO, ON, Dec 13, 2012 -
Leading industry brands are coming together for the fourth annual Canadian Cup for The Conservation Alliance at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market’s Industry Party on January 23. Hosted by Canadian brands Arc’teryx, Baffin and Canada Goose, the event is expected to raise more than $10,000 for The Conservation Alliance. The 2013 tournament will be made up of veteran and rookie tournament competitors with teams from Arc’teryx, Baffin, Canada Goose, CamelBak, Columbia, Eddie Bauer, Icebreaker, Keen, Nikwax, The North Face, PrAna, PrimaLoft, Outdoor Retailer, Yukon Charlie’s, Woolrich and Rogers Corporation.
“Since its inception, this tournament has created a great energy and awareness around The Conservation Alliance at the OR Winter Market show, and we are excited for its fourth consecutive year,” said John Sterling, executive director of The Conservation Alliance.
The 16 participating teams will play single-elimination, four-on-four games, putting their hockey skills to the test in an effort to take home the 2013 Cup. At the 2012 tournament, Keen defeated Canada Goose in the championship game and will be looking to defend its title.
“The Canadian Cup is a great example of what sets this industry apart,” said Kenji Haroutunian, director of the Outdoor Retailer Show. “There’s no doubt this kind of action, creativity, camaraderie and passion does not happen within any other business category or trade show. It continues to put an exclamation point on the end of Day 1 and makes for a great party, but the real winner is The Conservation Alliance, an organization close to all our hearts.”
Funds raised for The Conservation Alliance support efforts to protect wild places throughout North America. Since its inception in 1989, the Alliance has contributed nearly $11.2 million to grassroots environmental groups.
