Outdoor Industry brands invest significant resources each year on marketing and communications programs in order to build their brands in the marketplace. Currently there is not a mechanism to officially recognize uniquely creative and engaging content in this area.

Recognition is important because it can inspire further innovation and provide brands with insight into what works best–-this, in turn, can raise the bar for marketing and communications strategies in the industry. “We want members of the outdoor industry to understand how brands build and share the stories behind their products, what is the best way to do so and why,” says Outdoor USA Magazine Publisher Raimondo Forlin.

The Outdoor Industry Awards

The awards give recognition to those companies that excel in the design and implementation of innovative marketing and communications programs.

Twice a year—in winter and summer—outdoor industry companies will submit their best achievements belonging to the award categories. From this pool, the Outdoor USA editorial team will vote to establish nominees. Outdoor specialty retailers will then vote to determine the winners.

Outdoor USA Magazine will present this season’s awards at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, UT and publish a special section honoring the recipients.

This winter, the award categories are:

1. Best Print Advertising Campaign, Fall/Winter (FW) 2012
2. Best Digital Campaign, FW 2012
3. Best Point of Purchase (POP) Material, FW 2012
4. Best Retail Co-marketing Program, FW 2012
5. Best Cause Project, FW 2012
Each brand may enter one or more categories—only one submission per category.
